Bio

Blues artist Taj Mahal has enjoyed an amazing 50 year career with over 45 albums released to date. Born to a gospel singing mother and a classical and jazz pianist father, he was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles and all of those influences entered into a style that goes way beyond blues or even world music.

Shortly after leaving school, Taj Mahal moved to California and formed The Rising Sons with guitarist Ry Cooder. Drinking from the well of the many early blues greats who performed at the Ashgrove, Mahal continued to both broaden and deepen his stylistic palette.
