Lafayette, Tennessee born Rita Coolidge is a pop vocalist who has successfully crossed over into coutry and jazz as well, charting in mulitple categories. She has won multiple Grammy Awards, both by herself as well as with once husband Kris Kristofferson.

Coolidge also formed the group Walela.
